“Karbala Free of Drugs – The Role of Security Institutions”

The College of Computer Science and Information Technology at Warith Al-Anbiyaa University (peace be upon him), in cooperation with the Iraqi National Security Service / Training and Development Directorate and the Karbala Security Directorate, launched an awareness workshop entitled “Karbala Free of Drugs – The Role of Security Institutions.” The workshop targeted first-year students in the Departments of Information Technology, Cybersecurity, and Artificial Intelligence.

The workshop was delivered by Training Officer Major Ghaith Ali Hameed Al-Masoudi, who addressed—through an interactive and awareness-based approach—the dangers of drugs and their health, psychological, and social effects, in addition to the legal aspects in accordance with the Anti-Narcotics Law No. (50) of 2017, as well as the religious perspective that prohibits this scourge due to its destructive impact on individuals and society.

The workshop also emphasized the importance of student awareness and community vigilance, highlighting the role of university youth in drug prevention. It introduced mechanisms for contacting security agencies through the hotline (131) to report suspicious cases with complete confidentiality, contributing to the enhancement of community and campus security.

At the conclusion of the workshop, Assistant Lecturer Nabil Sadiq Abdul Abbas Al-Sharifi, Head of the Department of Information Technology, presented a certificate of appreciation to the training officer in recognition of his valuable efforts and effective contribution to spreading security awareness and preventive culture among our dear students.
