A specialized workshop on Social Engineering and Information Security was organized as part of ongoing efforts to enhance security awareness and preventive practices in the field of information security. The workshop aimed to provide an in-depth understanding of the concept of social engineering as one of the most prominent cyberattack methods, while clarifying the techniques used by hackers to manipulate individuals and extract sensitive information from both institutions and individuals alike.
The workshop was presented by Asst. Lect. Hassan Sabah Kazim, who reviewed the most common methods and strategies used in social engineering, supported by practical and analytical examples of electronic fraud attempts. The workshop also addressed information protection techniques and ways to enhance the level of cybersecurity, including effective password management, verification of information sources, and the ability to recognize fraudulent messages and phishing attacks, in accordance with the latest academic standards and best practices in this field.
